Forest and Stream was a popular 1870's/early 1900s magazine featuring hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities in the United States. The journal was founded in August 1873 by Charles Hallock. In the 1880s, it helped to popularize canoeing, the Adirondack lakes, self-guided canoe camping tours and ultralight camping. Forest and Stream was also dedicated to wildlife conservation and helped to launch the National Audubon Society.

In addition to being a wealth if information about outdoor life and activities during this time period, these magazines serve as a great resource for the types of products that were popular at the time - both through the articles and the colorful ads describing the many interesting outdoor themed products available a hundred or more years ago.
